Our journey towards Truth and Reconciliation

In 2021, members of the BTCA formed a Truth and Reconciliation Committee with the intention of building relationships with the original people and caretakers of this land. Our intention is to learn directly from the Blackfoot Nation and other members of the Indigenous community how we, as newcomers, can learn to become better community members.

On this page you will find some stories about the activities and projects that we have worked on, realized and some that we are working towards.

As well, you will find an evolving collection of learning resources and links to make it easier to find quality information about the ongoing Nation to Nation relationship building that we are responsible for as Canadian citizens, and citizens of the Blackfoot Treaty (Numbered Treaty 7).

We are working from a grassroots community perspective. To the best of our ability we strive to centre Indigenous voices, and seek guidance wherever possible. We realize we have much work to do, and are showing up to learn with open hearts.
